More-
The Forger of London is one of the more than straightforward Krimi films - there'south no wacky villains and fiendish plots. Instead we focus on a wealthy newly husband with a family history of amnesia, which might just have something to do with the fake banknotes flooding London. The bulk of the moving picture takes place in a huge mode firm and focuses on the paranoia surrounding the protagonist and his possible involvement in a series of crimes including murder. The plot is quite convoluted (as usual!) Just rather easy to follow. There's non a nifty deal of standout moments, just the movie is always mostly entertaining. It'due south well directed past Harald Reinl and the bandage features some genre regulars, including…

Probably the to the lowest degree crazy of the Rialto Edgar Wallace adaptations then far, which is funny to recall almost since information technology contains a villain who communicates only through a 1-fashion mirror, hereditary insanity, amnesia, and a spooky castle with secret rooms. At the get-go, I thought it was going to exist a boring story nearly apocryphal money, merely thankfully information technology shortly finds its emotional center - Karin Dor, who marries Hellmut Lange for money, but finds she starts to fall in love with him and stand up by him as it seems he may exist going mad or fifty-fifty turning to murder. Siegfried Lowitz returns to the series equally the detective, non seen since Fellowship of the Frog, and he's rapidly become one of my favorites.

Very likely the most beautifully looking film in the Edgar Wallace series I have seen then far. The setting and cinematography give this 1 a gothic-horror like temper that I liked very much. I'm too pretty certain Karin Dor has never looked prettier than roaming the villa in her white nightgown. For the offset time, this is also a more female-centric film in the series, which makes for a welcome change. The weak link in the concatenation here is definitely Hellmut Lange, whose performance I establish a bit hokey and unconvincing at times. But I actually enjoyed Siegfried Lowitz as the refreshingly quirky inspector. The plot/mystery hither is ok, goose egg too special simply it kept me entertained. In the cease, it'south actually the gorgeous cinematography and radiant presence of Karin Dor that lifts this entry in the serial (slightly) in a higher place average.

Old-fashioned krimi with a convoluted plot involving counterfeiting, inheritance, amnesia and a spooky castle. Lots of familiar faces show upward, Harald Reinl'southward direction is rock-solid and Martin Böttcher'due south score is pretty sweet, but overall this is one of the less memorable Edgar Wallace pictures.

Different most of the krimi I have seen, this 1 didn't have much of a trunk count or gang affiliation. No, this is more than of a paranoia film akin to those early gialli that were more about devious ways to inherit a fortune or bulldoze one out of their mind. Even so, I idea this was an easy comparatively quick watch, even if the stand out moments can't compare with fifty-fifty the average krimi.

More than conspiracy and less murder than some other krimis, simply director Reilm keeps the opressive paranoia loftier.

"When a criminal knows that he'southward made a error, he becomes savage, and much more than unsafe."
A convoluted krimi (is at that place any other kind?), and one I probably would have skipped had I not happened upon it on YouTube. The fact that its villain has to stay in the shadows or behind a one-mode mirror because he'south merely an ordinary guy doesn't help. Requite me a killer with flair in a distinctive and/or outlandish mask and/or costume any mean solar day.

________________________________________________________________________________Classic Edgar Wallace with a large castle, pictures from Hamburg, mysterious murders and figures that are everything only normal. Boredom does non arise during the law-breaking plot, but neither does the very great enthusiasm. In the end, almost besides ordinary and straightforward.

Human being denke etwa an Carlo Rustichellis Titelmusik zu Sei donne per 50'assassino.
